Here’s my reading list from 2019
There was some great and mostly good in this list. Put this together in case you are looking for books to read in 2020.
The Hidden Life Of Trees - Amazing book. The writing is incredible and will completely change the way you look at trees.
Skin In The Game - Some really good concepts in this book, but I didn’t like the “ranty” nature that the book was written in. Sad because there are some solid points in this book.
The Obstacle Is The Way - This is a yearly read for me. It’s such an important book for me and is a perfect entry into the stoic philosophy.
Digital Minimalism - This book is a fantastic look at how our phones are negatively effecting us. We all know it and feel it, yet don’t realize that it isn’t even a fair fight. Cal Newport gives tips on how to work against it.
The Way Of The Runner - This book is a look at the incredible world of Japanese running culture. It definitely had some interesting facts and thoughts, but overall, it felt like a bit of a self-serving book. That could also be me just spotting something in the guy that I don’t like about myself.
Draft No. 4: On The Writing Process - Written by John McPhee, creative non-fiction writer, this book is a deep dive into his writing process. McPhee could write about anything and you would be enthralled. One of my favorite books is a piece he wrote on oranges…oranges! Extra tip, buy the hardcover, it’s beautiful.
